II. Privacy Policy

A. What personal data we collect and why we collect it

This website does not share Personal Data with third parties, nor do we store any information about your visit to this blog, other than to analyze and optimize your user experience.

1. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the Personal Data shown in the comments form, and we also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

2. Contact and newsletter sign-up forms

If you submit Personal Data to us through a contact form or through a newsletter sign-up form, we may keep these submissions for customer service purposes indefinitely. However, we do not give the Personal Data submitted through contact forms to third parties for marketing or other purposes.

3. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no Personal Data and is discarded when you close your browser.

You can remove cookies stored in your computer via your browser settings. Alternatively, you can control some third party cookies by using a privacy enhancement platform. For more information about cookies, visit allaboutcookies.org. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of some parts of this site.

4. Google Fonts

This site uses Google Fonts, which logs records of font file requests. You can view the Google Fonts privacy policy here.

5. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect Personal Data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

6. Google reCAPTCHA

We have implemented reCAPTCHA v3 on our site and our use of reCAPTCHA v3 is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. reCAPTCHA is used to fight spam and abuse on our site.

7. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure traffic on our website. Google has their own Privacy Policy, which you can review here. If you’d like to opt out of tracking by Google Analytics, visit the Google Analytics opt-out page.

8. MyBookTable

Disclosure of Material Connection: Some of the links in the MyBookTable page(s) may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I or the creators of the plugin will receive an affiliate commission. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

9. WooCommerce

We use WooCommerce on our site to process payments. This plugin collects personal data, such as city and zip code to calculate shipping rates, and may share data with external services, such as billing address to process a payment. Read WooCommerce’s full privacy policies here.

10. Childrens Information

We believe it is important to provide added protection for children online. We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their children to observe, participate in and/or monitor and guide their online activity. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. We do not target children with our services.

If a parent or guardian believes that we have in our database the personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 13, please contact us immediately and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

B. What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the Personal Data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any Personal Data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
